Hey Fest of Al Weirdos! (I say that entirely in kindness as I’m also a Weird Al Weirdo!)
We’re thrilled to be a part of the first annual Fest of Al, celebrating all things Al. Obviously because we’re such big fans we had to partner with the Fest to present a UHF Movie Party! That’s right, you can quote along with your favorite quotes and there may even be some surprises for attendees! Guess you’ll have to go to find out.
Outside of the Fest, we have a wild variety of things happening at our Littleton, Sloans Lake and BarFly venues!
Any Kurt Russell fans out there? Yeah, I thought so. Any fans of mystery movie marathons? Oh yeah? Well we have a dream come true for you on July 21st. That’s right, it’s Russellmania 2018! Five mystery Kurt Russell films screening digitally and in 35mm over a massive 10 hours. You’ll find out what the films are as soon as they hit the screen. There’ll be plenty of Kurt Russell-themed giveaways and prizes too.
If you dig the Movie Party vibe you should definitely attend our first ever BASEketball Movie Party! Complete with blow-up basketballs and drink specials, come celebrate this landmark Trey Parker and Matt Stone comedy that doesn’t get enough big screen love!
Calling all kung fu fanatics, The 37th Chamber is back! Hosted by Denver’s walking encyclopedia on kung fu and martial arts cinema, Elijah Taylor, the first Tuesday of every month features a great flick and a live martial arts demonstration (that usually involves Elijah getting thrown around like a little ragdoll). Screening via restorations from the American Genre Film Archive and Celestial Pictures, AVENGING EAGLE and LEGENDARY WEAPONS OF CHINA is up next!
You don’t have to be a “dude” to come see DUDES with the incredible Penelope Spheeris on July 28th! See the new restoration of the wild punk western starring Jon Cryer, THEN watch WAYNE’S WORLD with Spheeris later that night!
Our annual screening of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER on August 18th (the first day of camp, obviously) is happening again! Complete with barbecue sauce for your face, flutes, chewing gum and a gaggle of other props, no need to bring a can of vegetables (unless you really, really want to and are really, really cool).
Get ready to tiki, tiki, tiki with the Denver Immersive Opera! Starting the last weekend of July and going into August we have BarFly’s first foray into live opera with TROUBLE IN TAHITI! We’re decking the bar out with tiki flair, creating a special food and cocktail menu and immersing you in the tikiest event of the summer. We’re really stoked to be working with the fabulous Denver Immersive Opera and we hope to see you there.
Find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Untapped to keep up to date on specialty and first run programming!
Until then, keep it weird and we’ll see you around at Alamo Drafthouse!
